Guide

Suits
Suits don't just provide a cosmetic change for Batman .They also each have their own levels of Damage, Speed, Block and Damage Reduction stats, improving your skills as you earn new ones. You'll start with the basic Origins costume when you begin, but you'll have access to various others over time, some of which will seem familiar if you're an avid reader of the comic books.

One you'll want to take advantage of is the Red Son costume. You unlock this by registering your game with the WB Games account - it's free - and connecting it to the console version of the game, which releases this Friday. While the costume is a bit more outlandish than most of Batman's darker fare, it increases your strength tremendously.

Upgrades
When it comes to improving your general fighting tactics, you've got three general areas to work with. Skills provides you with a number of new tools, as well as improvements to your current combos. Assault Stance gives you access to new attack styles and other utilities, while Guarded Stance introduces new defensive maneuvers, which you'll use when it comes to stronger enemies in the game - the top-level assassins like Deathstroke and Bane.

When it comes to choosing what to upgrade first, the best way to start is by pushing your assault tactics. Work on improving your Fisticuffs fighting style first, as the stronger you get, the quicker you'll be able to take down opponents.

From there, open up new abilities that will give you an advantage in a fight. These include the Shock Gauntlets which deliver an electrical charge for extra damage to your foes, as well as a combat boost, providing a temporary strength increase. These can make all the difference, especially when fighting tougher enemies. Otherwise, you'll get the wind knocked out of you in later missions and daily challenges.

Blocking and Striking

Finally, let's talk about combat. When it comes to taking on enemies, there are two general things to keep in mind - blocking incoming attacks and striking back accordingly.

With blocking, you can either use the shield icon in the corner to block, or hold two fingers down anywhere on the screen. The finger system works better since the shield button is tucked away in the corner of the screen.

It's best to block when you have an enemy charging in with an attack - after you take out one of their allies - or when they begin to glow with an unstoppable move. Following the block, strike hard and fast to catch them off guard.

When it comes to going on the offensive, you tap on the screen to execute your quick hits, and combine these with swipes, depending on where glowing arrows are pointing. You'll want to complete these as quickly as possible to keep the flow of the combo going, and deliver more damage to your foes. Hit these in succession and you can actually wipe out an opponent pretty cleanly.

On occasion, you'll need to complete a mini-game in order to survive an incoming attack or deliver a powerful blow. If you're "dizzied", you can tap on a circle in the screen as quickly as possible to recover and continue your assault. If an assassin or some other opponent has you in a grip move, you can slide your finger continuously in the direction of a glowing arrow to break free and fight back. They're quick mini-games, but it helps to master them, especially when your overall strength is involved.

Tips

1. Gain experience levels to get more powerful.
Get experience points by winning battles. Do the same thing that you do to gain more upgrade points – fight battles that you can win, because winning earns about 10x more experience points than losing. Each time you gain a level, your attack power and health will increase.

2. Set the time ahead on your device to recover free stamina.
Stamina can be revived with one Waynetech point, but why spend your Waynetech points when you can just get free energy by setting the time ahead on your phone or tablet? If you want to get a full energy revival, set your iPhone, iPad or Android device an hour an a half ahead, and then go back to the game to use your free energy. Do this as many times as you’d like.

3. Use gradual upgrades to slowly become massively powerful.
They don’t work as quickly as batsuits, but upgrading your skills will turn you into a powerhouse. Use Tailor Made to add a percentage bonus to the power of any batsuit, and use Fisticuffs to give a bonus to the power of your main attack. Use Pinpoint Accuracy to increase the power of your critical hits, Strong Chin to stop yourself from getting stunned by enemy attacks, Advantageous Strike to do more damage to a stunned enemy, and Master Combatant to have a chance at instantly refreshing a special ability after you use it.

4. Log into the WB with your WBID to get new batsuits and other goodies.

Tap the menu button and you will see an option called “Unlockables”. Tap here to either register a new Warner Brothers ID, or WBID, or to login using ne you have previously registered, and you can earn goodies that include new batsuits, which can oftentimes be even more powerful than the batsuits you are able to unlock otherwise.

5. Want to get more Waynetech points? Fight the right battles to get them for free.
Anytime that you get ambushed by an assassin, if you win, you will get one free Waynetech point. If you beat an area boss, you will earn more than one free Waynetech point. Fight in the Uptown area to find the easiest assassins (they will attack you randomly), thus allowing you to earn the easiest Waynetech points.

6. Save your upgrade points for the best batsuit that you have available to you.
Immediately after beginning the game, you can get the Long Halloween batsuit, and as you beat the bosses of each area, you can unlock even more batsuits which are far more powerful and can turn the tide of battle. Save your upgrade points for batsuits so that you can make short work of the hardest stages available to you.

7. Go back into old areas to load up on upgrade points with easy missions.
After you beat the bosses for Uptown Gotham and the Docks (and the others), you will still be able to play missions in every one of those stages, and they will earn you more and more upgrade points, while never changing in difficulty level. So if you are stuck and you need to rack up the upgrades in order to get past the harder stages, farm the old stages for quick upgrade points.

8. Watch out for the supervillains’ special attacks.
Every supervillain has a specific special attack that can be blocked with some combination of button pushing. For example, Deadshot’s bullets can be blocked by tapping on the blue circles that pop up, while Copperhead’s attack can be blocked by pushing the two blue circles, then swiping rapidly in the indicated direction until you break her grip.

9. A good defense is just as important as a good offense.
Upgrade both your assault stance and your guarded stance, because you will need to make effective use of both of them in order to beat tougher battles. Switch back and forth. Rattle off a combo attack in assault stance, then switch to guarded stance and block whatever attacks are coming your way, then switch back.

10. Power up attacks such as Steadfast Strike and Escalating Justice by using multiple fingers.
Many attacks will require quick swiping or quick tapping. Use multiple fingers (for example, alternate your index fingers) to tap on the blue circle rapidly for Steadfast Strike, or swipe to the side rapidly for Escalating Justice). The faster you swipe, the more you increase the bonus damage.

11. Create And/Or Link Your WB Games Account
Much like with the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game, the mobile version of Batman: Arkham Origins allows players to create a free WB Games account which, when linked between a game’s mobile and console versions, allows the player to unlock content in one version by meeting specific criteria in the other.

While linking your WB Games account to the Arkham Origins mobile game may not seem like it will do much good now (since the console version’s release is still roughly a week away), simply adding your WB Games account unlocks the Red Son Batman costume for the mobile version. Even though the Red Son costume is a little goofy looking, it also offers several different attribute upgrades and bonuses which the default costume doesn’t have, making it a perfect way to kick the game off with an added boost.

12. Use The Dedicated Block Button
During the game’s tutorial, you’ll find there are two different ways Batman can block incoming attacks. You can either press two fingers down on the screen or simply hold down the large shield icon in the lower left-hand corner of the HUD. I’d advise getting used to the latter option as the game seems to have trouble reliably detecting when you press two fingers down instead of one.

Throwing a useless punch at an enraged enemy when you meant to block is not only embarrassing, it can also leave you open to the added penalties many enraged enemy attacks carry such as damage over time or leaving Batman stunned and vulnerable to further punishment. If you’re more comfortable zipping your finger down to the right-hand corner (where the stance-switch button is by default), you can switch the two icons over in the options panel.

13. Invest In Fisticuffs Early
One of the very first skills you unlock is Fisticuffs which increases the damage of Batman’s basic attacks with each rank purchased. The early ranks of Fisticuffs are relatively inexpensive and can allow you to plow your way through early fights by simply mashing out basic tap combos.

14. Don’t Forget To Switch Stances!
Each of Batman’s two stances, Assault and Guarded, has its own benefits and tradeoffs. Knowing when to switch between stances becomes more important in later fights and a well-timed switch can sometimes mean the difference between victory and defeat. Also, don’t forget to upgrade each stance every now and then as doing so helps to further offset each stance’s drawbacks and increase its benefits. Guarded stance may be slower and deliver less damage, but a few ranks later and it can turn Batman into a powerful brawler who’s survivability is nearly unbeatable.

15. The Basics of The Assault and Guarded Fighting Stances
Once Batman heads into battle with any one of the assassin’s, he’ll have the option to fend off attackers and defend himself with two different stances. The Assault stance is the more powerful stances of the two, since it allows Batman to employ more powerful moves on his enemies. As for the Guarded stance, Batman’s defenses increase and also grant him the ability to heal as time goes on. Masterful players will know the best ways to use both fighting stances to their fullest potential.

16. So Which Costume Should I Use The Most?
All of the various outfits Batman can change into offer their own statistics for the Damage, Speed, Block and Damage Reduction levels. Over time, you’ll gain other Batsuits that comic book fans will surely recognize. One suit you should make sure that’s in your inventory is the Red Son costume. When Batman dons this suit, he’ll gain a dramatic increase in the Damage category. All you have to do to unlock it is by registering your version of the game with a WB Games account. You also have to connect the game to the console version. And don’t worry – you won’t have to pay a dime to obtain it.

17. Which Upgrades Should I Aim For?
- When it comes to improving your general fighting tactics, you’ve got three general areas to work with. Skills provides you with a number of new tools, as well as improvements to your current combos. Assault Stance gives you access to new attack styles and other utilities, while Guarded Stance introduces new defensive maneuvers, which you’ll use when it comes to stronger enemies in the game – the top-level assassins like Deathstroke and Bane.
- When it comes to choosing what to upgrade first, the best way to start is by pushing your assault tactics. Work on improving your Fisticuffs fighting style first, as the stronger you get, the quicker you’ll be able to take down opponents.
- From there, open up new abilities that will give you an advantage in a fight. These include the Shock Gauntlets which deliver an electrical charge for extra damage to your foes, as well as a combat boost, providing a temporary strength increase. These can make all the difference, especially when fighting tougher enemies. Otherwise, you’ll get the wind knocked out of you in later missions and daily challenges.

18. The Basics of Blocking
Batman has two different ways to block incoming attacks during those boss battles. You can either hold two of your fingers down or hold down the large shield icon that’s present on the screen. The better option to blocking is by pressing down on the shield icon, since its readily available and it registers a lot more than the first option. Blocking saves your Bat-hide in several situations, so make sure you use it efficiently. Make sure you place the block icon in an easier place to access it if you’re having trouble accessing it on the right side. As soon as a battle begins, enter into the Guarded stance immediately. Starting on the defensive side is the best case scenario for those massive boss battles.

19. What Special Moves Should I Employ More?
Batman has access to a great array of special moves that can guarantee your victories. You should focus on using the Batswarm special moves to make your enemy drop its defenses. When you’re facing off with larger, more powerful enemies, you should make good use of the Martial Law move. Moves that add a nice positive boost to Batman’s stats are great as well. Make good use of the Steadfast Strike and the Escalating Justice special moves if you’re looking to increase Batman’s stats. A good combo is the use of the Batswarm and Martial Law moves.

20. You Should Approach the Fights With All the Assassin’s in Different Ways
Certain bosses will have specific special moves that you can defend using different techniques. For Copperhead, tap away the venom, then swipe to the indicated side with two alternating fingers in order to rapidly block her coil attack. For Deadshot, simply tap all of the bullets that pop up. Electrocutioner uses electric attacks at a rapid pace that can do all kinds of damage. Block Deathstroke’s slashes by tapping at the dots that pop up. As for Bane? Forget it – just pray that he doesn’t kill you within five seconds. Block, heal, and attack, and get better Batsuits because Bane is insanely strong.

21. Replay Older Missions to Gain Extra Upgrade Points
If you’re willing to grind it out on older levels, you’ll find yourself gaining a lot more extra upgrade points. Replay all those older stage missions and rack up on all those points so you’ll have way more upgrade points to invest in your own Dark Knight.

22. Copping More Waynetech Points is Essential to Survival
There are a few ways to get more Waynetech Points in Batman Arkham Origins. You can fight the right battles, let an assassin ambush you and then win, beat an area boss or fight in an uptown area (Bonus: There are more assassins to randomly target you in that area–so it’s ripe for earning more Waynetech points).

23. The Basics of Attacking
- When it comes to going on the offensive, you tap on the screen to execute your quick hits, and combine these with swipes, depending on where glowing arrows are pointing. You’ll want to complete these as quickly as possible to keep the flow of the combo going, and deliver more damage to your foes. Hit these in succession and you can actually wipe out an opponent pretty cleanly.
- On occasion, you’ll need to complete a mini-game in order to survive an incoming attack or deliver a powerful blow. If you’re “dizzied”, you can tap on a circle in the screen as quickly as possible to recover and continue your assault. If an assassin or some other opponent has you in a grip move, you can slide your finger continuously in the direction of a glowing arrow to break free and fight back. They’re quick mini-games, but it helps to master them, especially when your overall strength is involved.

24. How Long Does it Take to Refill the Stamina Bar?
The stamina bar for the game is full when its at 10 complete units. As you take on new missions, the bar will begin to deplete as time goes on. Once it finally runs out, you have two options when it comes to filling it back up – purchasing more stamina units with real-world money or waiting an entire hour or so. If you have the time, go ahead and wait it out. If not, then its best for you to buy those stamina units so you don’t have to repeatedly play older missions instead of the newer ones. Set your clock ahead if you’re as impatient as we are.
